Obverse
Lady Liberty is on the obverse of 2022-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coins. This design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens was created in 1907 and shows the full-length figure of Liberty in left-profile relief. She is shown walking toward the coins viewer with a torch held up in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The field comes with a depiction of the U.S. Capitol Building, sun rays on the horizon, and a ring of stars. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, 2022, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
Reverse
An American bald eagle is featured in the reverse design of the 2022 Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins. This design was created in 2020 by Jennie Norris and made its debut on the BU and Proof American Eagles in mid-2021. This design shows the head of the eagle in left-profile relief. Inscriptions on this side read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD 25 DOLLARS.

Proof American Eagle Gold Coins received a redesign in mid-2021. As part of the 35th anniversary of the series, the new design from Jennie Norris was introduced on BU and Proof versions of the coin in July 2021.
