History
Each year since 1986, the United States Mint releases a new American Silver Eagle coin to the public. The classic front Walking Liberty design has remained the same since the program began. Meanwhile, the reverse received a design update in 2021 and features a brand-new bald eagle rendition by Emily Damstra. Prior to that, the reverse design contained a heraldic eagle motif by former US Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti.
