The Armenian Noahs Ark Silver Series debuted in 2011 with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz options. In 2012, the series expanded to 5 oz, 10 oz, 1 Kilo, and 5 Kilo coins. The first release of gold coins in this series came in 2017 with four proof gold specimens that would lay the foundation for a new gold bullion version of the Noahs Ark Series.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2023 Noahs Ark 1 oz Gold Coins, you will find a depiction of the national coat of arms. Here, a quartered shield is supported by a heraldic eagle and a heraldic lion. There is a smaller shield at the center of the design with Noahs Ark resting on the top of Mount Ararat. Inscriptions read REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA, 50,000 DRAM, 2023, and 1 OZ AU 999.9.
Reverse
The reverse field of 2023 Armenian Noahs Ark Gold Coins features the image of Noahs Ark. In this design, the biblical ark is shown floating on the floodwaters with the sun rising over Mount Ararat in the background. A dove flies into the field in the foreground. Inscriptions include NOAHS ARK.
History
The 2017 proof release of gold coins in this series included the same weights now available in the BU gold series. These include 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1 Gram gold in addition to these 1 oz gold coins.
