History

With their heavy, muscular bodies and lengthy front canines, the sabre-tooth was one of the most fearsome apex predators of pre-historic times. They would often hunt in packs and could even take down enormous creatures like the Mastodon. They also hunted wooly mammoths, deer, and bison. Rather than stalking and chasing down their food, the sabre-tooth would usually hunt in packs, ambush, and then pounce. During the attack, they then used their front canines to tear through the throat and abdomen of their prey.
