But things changed in the 1990s, and the program expanded to include different coin sizes. In 1991, they introduced smaller coins like the 1/10 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins. During 1991, the Mexican Mint expanded the Mexican Silver Libertad series by adding smaller coins. This included the 1/10 oz Silver Libertads, as well as 1/20 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/2 oz silver coins.

Obverse

The front design of the 2023 Libertad 1/10 oz Silver Coin showcases the national seal. This modern design draws inspiration from an image in the Codex Mendoza, originating from the Aztec Empire. It depicts a golden eagle in battle with a serpent on a prickly pear cactus branch. Inscriptions include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.

Reverse

On the back of the 2023 Mexican Libertad Silver Coin, you’ll find the image of Winged Victory. This iconic figure stands tall in Mexico City atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column. The design captures her three-quarter figure with wings, a laurel wreath in her right hand, and broken chains in her left hand. Inscriptions read 1/10 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 2023 LEY .999, and the mint mark.

History

In 1996, the Mexican Mint would again expand the series, this time introducing 2 oz and 5 oz silver coins for investors. In 2008, the 1 Kilogram silver coin was added as the final and largest coin in the collection.

All 2023 Mexican Libertad 1/10 oz Silver Coins are packaged in protective flips to keep them in great condition. These coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, straight from the mint. The highest number of coins produced at this weight was in 1992, with a total of 299,933 coins sold. The previous year, 2022, had a final count of 4,850 coins.
