History

The production of the Peace Silver Dollar faced several interruptions. The first run of coins was minted from 1921 to 1928. However, in 1928, the U.S. Mint ceased production due to a decrease in demand and a stockpile of silver dollars. It was not until 1934 that additional Peace Dollars were minted to fulfill the requirements of the Pittman Act, which authorized the melting and recoinage of millions of silver dollars.
