In 1921, the US Mint resumed silver dollar production, bringing back the iconic Morgan Silver Dollar design after a hiatus that began in 1904. The mint concurrently worked on a new design, which was completed by December of that year.
Obverse
Designed by Anthony di Francisci, the 2023 Peace Dollar Silver Coin features a left-profile bust of Liberty. This representation of Lady Liberty was crafted to symbolize the longing for peace, featuring gentle facial features and a radiant crown of light. Inscriptions on this side include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRVST, and 2023.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2023 Peace Dollar showcases the majestic American bald eagle. Perched on the edge of a rocky cliff, the eagle stands with folded wings, clutching only an olive branch in its talons. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, and PEACE.
