The character of Wonder Woman was created by the psychologist William Moulton Marston under the pen name Charles Moulton. Inspired by his wife Elizabeth and their domestic partner Olive Byrne, Wonder Woman is a member of a female warrior race known as the Amazons. The concept art and design of this beloved superheroine is credited to H.G. Peter, a French American cartoonist and supporter of early 20th-centuryfeminism. Peter would continue his influential work on the Wonder Woman comics until his death in 1958.
