The Somalia Elephant Series has been available at the Bavarian State Mint since 1999. Originally offered for a different nation, the series has been issued on behalf of Somalia since 2004. Highlights:
The African elephant is the largest land mammal on Earth and is one of three living elephant species. Amidst the African elephant series, the two existing subspecies are the bush elephant and forest elephant.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2023 Elephant 1/4 oz Gold Coins, you will find the national coat of arms. This design includes a crowned shield with a single star at its center. The star is set on a background field of horizontal lines with leopards supporting the shield from either side. Beneath the design element is a set of crossed spears and fern leaves. Inscriptions include SOMALI REPUBLIC, 2023, and 200 SHILLINGS.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2023 Somalia Elephant Gold Coin comes with a new image of the African bush elephant. The design shows a bush elephant reaching up to an overhead branch with its trunk to strip leaves off the tree for a meal. The inscriptions here read AFRICAN WILDLIFE, ELEPHANT, and 1/4 OZ AU 999.9.
History
Somalia Elephant Gold Coins are available in several gold weights each year. The coins come in a traditional 1 oz gold weight, with the first fractional-ounce weights coming in the form of 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold. Later additions included 1/25 oz, 1/50 oz, and 1 Gram gold.

Your 2023 Somalia Elephant 1/4 oz Gold Coin arrives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are packaged individually in capsules or by multiples of 20 gold coins in tubes.

For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
