The African Wildlife Series is the leading collection of bullion coins from the Bavarian State Mint. Introduced in 1999 with the African bush elephant design, this collection is known for its ever-changing reverse images of animals from the African continent. Highlights:
African Wildlife Series coins were initially offered as the Zambia Elephant between 1999 and 2003. The coins featured the Zambian shield on one side and new images of the bush elephant on the other each year. The 2004 shift to Somalia saw a new national shield introduced on one side, but the bush elephant continued to grace the reverse.
Obverse
For the obverse design of 2023 Elephant 1/50 oz Gold Coins, the Bavarian State Mint features the shield of Somalia. This design consists of a crowned shield with horizontal lines and a single star at its center. The shield is supported by leopards and includes inscriptions of SOMALI REPUBLIC, 2023, and 20 SHILLINGS.
Reverse
In the reverse design of the 2023 Somalia Elephant Gold Coin, you will find the latest image of the African bush elephant in this series. The design shown here captures a bush elephant using its trunk to grab leaves from a tree branch overhead. Inscriptions on this side read AFRICAN WILDLIFE, ELEPHANT, and 1/50 AU 999.9.
History
Introduced in 1999, the Gold Elephants of the African Wildlife Series have traditionally offered only a 1 oz gold option. Starting in 2017, the series expanded to feature various fractional-ounce weights as well.
Ordering
These 2023 Somalia Elephant 1/50 oz Gold Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are packaged individually in capsules or by multiples of 20 gold coins in tubes.

For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
