History

In Africa, there are five total subspecies of buffalo, with the Cape Buffalo being the largest. The other four are known as the Nile Buffalo, the Sudanese Buffalo, the Mountain Buffalo, and Forest Buffalo. Because of their enormous size and powerful horns, Cape Buffalos are considered quite dangerous to be around. This, along with their slightly erratic behavior, has prevented this subspecies from being domesticated.
