Founded in 1790 at the request of Alexander Hamilton, the United States Coast Guard is the oldest seafaring service in the United States. Though the United States Navy traces its roots to the Continental Navy, it was formally founded as it exists today in 1798. The Coast Guard is honored in one of the first releases from the new Armed Forces Silver Medals Program. Provident Metals currently has 2021 US Mint Coast Guard 2.5 oz Silver Medals available to you for purchase online.

The motto of the Coast Guard stands for always ready.
Reverse
The Racing Stripe insignia the US Coast Guard uses to identify its ships featured on the reverse of 2021 US Mint Coast Guard Silver Medals. The inscriptions on this field include HONOR, RESPECT, and DEVOTION TO DUTY.
History
The United States Coast Guard is the second-smallest branch of the United States Military, but would be the 12th largest navy in the world by itself. A part of the US Department of Homeland Security, the Coast Guard can be transferred to the Department of the Navy at any time by the President of the United States or by Congress during times of war.
