In 1892, the US Mint began producing commemorative coins to honor notable people and events throughout the country’s history. The first of these coins celebrated the 400th anniversary of Columbus’ voyage across the Atlantic.
The mint continued producing countless commemorative coins over the next 62 years. Starting in 1954, production of these coins ceased until 1982, when the George Washington Fifty Cent Piece was released to celebrate the 250th birthday of the nation’s first president. Additional designs include the United States Constitution, the US Congress bicentennial, World War II 50th anniversary, the Bill of Rights, Jamestown’s 400th anniversary, and more.
The mint has issued a range of commemorative coins in a variety of denominations, including $5 gold coins. These US commemorative coins are deemed legal tender, though they were not produced for general circulation. Sales of these coins helps fund a plethora of public projects.
The dates and designs of these coins will be randomized and may or may not include a variety. However, each coin will be in uncirculated or proof condition.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
Provident is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.

I received very nice coins the two times that I ordered these commemoratives. The first coin was a 1995 W Civil War Comm. Proof NGC PF 69. The second was a 1987 W Constitution Comm. NGC MS 70. I will definitely be ordering more in the future.

In the mint capsule. Beautiful coin. Almost 1/4 oz of gold at a VERY low premium. (I break even on the gold content alone at $1293) Ordered 3 so far, always got a different one. As I said in my review of this coin last month…I bought another. Rec’d it 6 business days after ordering, thanks to e-check. I rec’d the 1993-W Bill of Rights commem. Proof. Oh. One more thing. I ordered one of these because the price over spot was basically cheaper than anything else. As a bonus, it is a legal tender US coin. Basically a 1/4 oz gold for $4.95 over melt value. Best deal I could find anywhere. I rec’d it today. It was the 1989 200th anniversary of Congress . It is BU and encased in what I believe to be the original mint capsule. A little larger than a nickel. Beautiful coin. I’ve already blown my pm budget for the month, but if these stick around, I will buy another next month instead of silver…

I purchased 4 and received the 1986 Statue of Liberty 5$ commemorative coin. Beautiful and protected in a capsule for ease of viewing. At time of purchase the price over spot had been reduced that week. These price reductions make them a great value, even when compared against 1/4 oz AGE’s. I’ve been making purchases from Provident for just over a year, but this is my first product review. I took advantage of a Weekly Deals sale to buy a $5 Gold US Commemorative coin for only $9.99 over spot, at a lower cost per ounce compared to a 1/4 American Gold Eagle, and a slightly tighter bid/ask spread compared to the AGE. I received a gorgeous 1986 Statue of Liberty commemorative proof coin in absolutely flawless condition. Wow! What a surprise! To receive a coin in that condition at that price point was absolutely thrilling. What’s not to like? US legal tender gold coin, beautiful design, the same size and purity as the historic pre-1933 $5 constitutional gold piece, in a condition better than even a BU 1/4ozt AGE, and at a price and spread even better than the venerable but ubiquitous Mexican 10 pesos gold piece. Provident Metals have truly outdone themselves this time, and I am beyond pleased with my purchase.
