While each of these bars ship in new condition, the Lunar Series from PAMP Suisse is not new. In fact, this series has been around for more than a decade. To create a cohesive collection, PAMP Suisses Lunar Series bars all show the same image from two different angles on each side of the bar. Since these bars were created for the Year of the Rat, they feature two images of a rat.

These bars ship in individual assays surrounded in plastic for ultimate protection. The bars each have their own serial numbers as well.

Obverse

The image on the obverse of each of these bars is that of a rat standing atop a stone wall. The rat is holding an ancient coin in its hands. The coin has a square hole in the center and features Chinese symbols.

Reverse

The reverse image is that of the same rat still standing on the top stone wall ledge. From this angle, you see the back of the rat and the back of the coin it is holding. The rats long tail winds up the back of its body. This side of the bar also features a number of inscriptions, including the weight, purity, metal content, and serial number of the bar.

History

These bars are part of a larger series of gold bars all featuring images of the animals of the Zodiac calendar from Chinese culture. The rat symbolizes the first animal in the Zodiac calendar.
