These rounds offer a unique window into the past with their live-edge aesthetic and classical portrait of the legendary Herakles! Provident Metals currently has 5 oz Antique Argentia Alexander the Great Silver Rounds available to you for purchase online.
Round Highlights:
These 5 oz Antique Alexander the Great Silver Rounds will be delivered to you in protective mylar sleeves. Each sleeve also includes a holographic seal for protection and authenticity purposes. All rounds in this listing were struck by Argentia, a private precious metals company based in Canada. Argentia is known for its lineup of bullion bars as well as its Sculptural Arts Collection. The latter centers on history and mythology and combines genuine artistry with investment-grade quality.
Obverse
The Argentia logo and round hallmarks are located on the obverse of 5 oz Antique Alexander the Great Silver Rounds. There is also a stylish background pattern of circles and lines. The brand logo consists of a triangular design with the word ARGENTIA inscribed below it. The hallmarks are shown beneath this and read 5 OZ FINE SILVER .9999.
Reverse
A portrait of the mythological hero Herakles is found on the reverse of 5 oz Argentia Alexander the Great Silver Rounds. Here, we see Herakles facing right in a simple, neo-classical design. This heroic character is considered the Greek equivalent of Romes Hercules.
History
Still popular with collectors today, the tetradrachm was a coin of Ancient Greece used from about 525 BC until 38 BC. Thanks to the conquests of Alexander the Great, the tetradrachm eventually spread to other city-states outside of Greece, where it became a popular unit of trade. The tetradrachm features some of the earliest great coin designs, many of which were created to deliver political messages or to promote various public figures.
