Copper is the oldest metal worked by human hands. Because it is a native metal, copper can occur in nature in a directly usable metallic form. The first evidence of this dates back to 8000 BC. In fact, copper set a number of records in human history such as being the first metal smelted from sulfide ores around 5000 BC and the first metal cast into molds around 4000 BC.

5 oz Copper Rounds available through this Provident Metals listing come with varied designs on the obverse and reverse fields. Though we cannot guarantee you receive this particular round, the 5 oz Copper Aztec Calendar Round is just one example of a popular copper round available as of late. These rounds have a detailed replica of the Aztec sun stone on the reverse field with a bust of the Aztec Emperor, Cuauhtemoc, on the obverse field.

Copper has long been worked by human hands, as mentioned above, and is still worked today in a number of industries. Copper was the engine of the Bronze Age in human history as the first metal purposefully alloyed with another metal, in this case, tin, to create bronze around the year 3500 BC. Countless human civilizations would then use bronze to create shields, weapons, coins, and works of art. Today, mankind is still tinkering with copper. Historic US gold coins issued through 1933 had 90% gold content and 10% copper for durability in circulation.

These 5 oz Copper Rounds are available to you in varied conditions and come with an individual protective plastic flip. The condition of rounds in this listing can vary from brand-new to those with a wide range of potential damage or production flaws. Each round is chosen at random once your payment is processed and it is not possible to guarantee a particular design, the condition of the round, or the mint of origin. If you buy more than one, it is possible the rounds will all match one another for design, condition, and mint of origin.
