Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 5 oz Silver Double Axe Viking Bars online at Provident Metals, you will receive a silver bar that is packaged in an individual custom leather pouch. These pouches come with a drawstring enclosure and feature the same design from the obverse of the bar on the exterior of the pouch. These bars have incuse design strikes, an antique finish, and rough visuals that make for the perfect collectible piece.
Obverse
A Viking warrior is shown in the obverse design of the 5 oz Silver Double Axe Viking Bar. This image shows a powerful warrior in front-facing relief as he clutches two axes, one in each hand. With a horned helmet, the Viking stands with his axes at the read while the corners of the design field have ornate elements.
Reverse
In the reverse design of the 5 oz Double Axe Viking Bar, the field includes a detailed depiction of a Viking longship. These famous ships boasted a shallow draft and a single mast at the center. The bows were often decorated with ornate figures meant to strike fear in the hearts of those who saw the Vikings rowing up inland waterways toward their shores.
History
Vikings is a modern name given to the people of Scandinavia that began to explore, pillage, invade, and trade with mainland Europe in the 8th century. From the late 8th century to the early 11th century, the Vikings struck fear in millions across the continent. Though they are mostly remembered as warriors and pillagers, the Vikings were also well-known traders and explorers. In fact, the Vikings are credited with the first established settlement in the New World.
