Starting in 1982, the United States Mint resumed the production of commemorative gold coins. After a nearly-30-year hiatus in commemorative coining, the US Mint began to release commemoratives again for collectors to purchase alongside other gold and silver bullion coins from the mint. Right now, you can buy $5 US Mint Commemorative Gold Coins with random dates and designs online from Provident Metals.

"$5 USA commemorative 1987, (bicentennial of the Constitution September 17th 1787). In a capsule, great shape, .2419 oz. I have nothing to complain about great design perhaps not the one I was hoping for but it's a random year to be accepted, but it's a super nice design and there's for sure is something to be said for being a constitutional designed commemorative coin. Prop delivery after the clearance of electronic check of course. Been dealing with Providence who was bought out by JM Bullion a few years back. Provident used to be out of Texas now they're out of Nevada still close enough for me even though I live in Texas it was nice to buy from a Texas company. They may still have headquarters in Texas but I'm sure it all ships out of Las Vegas. Never ever had a problem with them, I've been dealing with them for years. Always worth checking to see if the prices are better than others, you have to shop around a little. I mostly Buy as closely as I can to spot of course knowing that there is some benefit and having eagles, buffaloes and other more well-known coins, in case I want to sell some of them. ?"
