Obverse
The obverse field of 2018 Isle of Man Noble 1 oz Gold Coins features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The crown she wears on her head in this design is known as the Royal Diadem, or more officially, as the George IV State Diadem. It was commissioned by the latter monarch in 1820 and is worn primarily during the State Opening of Parliament.
Reverse

English noble gold coins were first released in 1344 during the reign of King Edward III. The coins would remain in production in various derivatives, such as the half noble and quarter noble, through the reign of King Edward IV in 1465 when its predecessor, the English gold angel, was released. Noble coins often featured a cross or other ornate design on one side and the effigy of a monarch in a sailing vessel on the other.
