One of the best-selling products from the United States Mint is the American Buffalo Gold Coin. This secondary gold bullion offered by the US Mint is younger than the American Eagle Gold Series, but has the upper hand in offering investors 24-karat gold content. Provident Metals currently offers American Buffalo 1 oz Gold Coins from random years to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase an American Buffalo 1 oz Gold Coin online from Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is housed in an individual protective flip. The coins in this listing come with the potential for various date marks and abrasions present on the specimens. The possible dates in this series run from 2006 to present.
Provident Metals would like you to note that these coins do come with abrasions. The term abrasions refers to the presence of light scuff marks, scratches, and other flaws resulting from contact with other coins or objects. This most often occurs when coins are housed in the wrong capsule size and slide around within, or when the coins contact other coins through rough handling.
Obverse
The obverse of the American Buffalo Gold Coin comes with a right-profile portrait of an indigenous American. This figure was the result of a combination of the physical features of three real-life indigenous leaders from the early 20th century. James Earle Fraser created this portrait of a stoic figure in 1913. Inscriptions on this side include LIBERTY, the F initial of Fraser, and a date mark.
Reverse
On the reverse side of American Buffalo 1 oz Gold Coins, you will find the North American bison. One of two subspecies, alongside the Wood bison, this Plains bison is shown standing on a mound of earth. The bison is shown in left-profile relief with inscriptions of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, $50, and 1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD.
History
American Buffalo Gold Coins used the exact designs created in 1913 by James Earle Fraser. This coin design was approved during the administration of President William Howard Taft and was popular during its production life from 1913 to 1938.
