Provident Metals has unearthed the lore of Egyptian mythology with the second release in the Egyptian Gods Series, the Anubis 2 oz Silver Ultra High Relief Medallion – BU | NGC MS70. These 2 oz, .999 fine silver medallions exhibit some of the artistry for which the Ancient Egyptians were known. For the first time, Provident offers privately minted, NGC graded silver. Each medallion holds a grade of MS70 and displays an individualized serial number between U001-U500.

Featured on the obverse is the statuesque Anubis, leveling the scales of justice- the device used to determine the quality of the heart of a man or woman after they died. As the god of the underworld, Anubis was closely associated with death. Because jackals were animals known to frequent graveyards, they too were often linked with death; Anubis is depicted with the head of of a black jackal and oftentimes appeared to Egyptians in jackal form.

Idyllic lotus flowers, reminiscent of those at the banks of the Nile River, line the bottom edge of the reverse and border the medallion’s characteristics- “2 OZ,” “.999,” “Ag.” Anubis, as a jackal, sits upon a ledge with a detailed pyramid in the background. Cascading hieroglyphics occupy the field, creating one of the meticulously designed reverses on the market.
