The god of the dead brings Egypt to life on the new Anubis Ultra High Relief, 2 oz Silver Edge Numbered Round, available exclusively from Provident Metals. Anubis, composed 2 troy oz .999 fine silver, is the second design in the “Egyptian Gods” series, following the immensely popular Cleopatra.

Anubis is known as “the Embalmer,” but perhaps more importantly, he assists in the ceremony judging the hearts of the dead. He holds scales, which weigh the fallen’s heart against a feather. A lighter heart will pass to the afterlife; a heavier heart will suffer the fire. On the obverse, hieroglyphics carved into a stone ledge spell “Anubis”. Atop the ledge sit items illustrating his connection to the dead- a mummified hawk, a skull of the deceased, and a jar containing the embalming fluid used in his post-mortem duties.

Equally remarkable is the reverse; an alert jackal sits in front of a pyramid reminiscent of the Giza Complex. Detailed bricks highlight the craftsmanship used by the original creators of the pyramids; carved into the brick is a winged sun disc guarded by two serpents, known as the “uraeus.” The winged sun disc often represented the king, while the uraeus was symbolic of the king’s protection. In the field, cascading hieroglyphics provide astounding detail to complete the authentic Egyptian tribute. The weight “2 OZ”, purity “.999”, and atomic symbol, “Ag” all appear on the reverse.

Each of these rounds has a BU finish, and features an individual serial number from U001 to U500. Rounds will ship in new condition.
