Obverse

President George Washington is depicted in left-profile relief on the obverse of all ATB 5 oz Silver Coins. This bust of the former Commander-in-Chief was created in 1932 by John Flanagan, but it is actually based on a sculpting of Washington from his lifetime that was created in 1786. Flanagans design has been on the US quarter since 1932 as a celebration of his 200th birthday.

Reverse

The reverse side of all ATB 5 oz Silver Coins has a fresh design with each release. The US Mint produces five different designs each year, with the lone exception being the final year. In 2021, the series will feature only one design for the US state of Alabama to complete the 56-coin series.

History

The America the Beautiful Series was introduced in 2010. It is based on the popularity of the State Quarters Program from the US Mint, a design program that delivered new reverse designs to circulating quarters representing each of the many jurisdictions of the United States.
