On the obverse face of the Australian Victory in the Pacific 1/4 oz Gold Coin is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief in the popular Ian Rank-Broadley design created in 1998. This effigy of the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara featured on the obverse of Australian coins from 1999 to 2017, with the adoption of a new effigy beginning in 2018.

The reverse side of the Australian Victory in the Pacific 1/4 oz Gold Coin showcases the glory of the hard-won peace in World War II. An eagle flies into view in the center of the design with an olive branch between its talons. On the left side of the design, the Stars and Stripes of the United States of America. On the right side, the Southern Cross flag of the Commonwealth of Australia. Inscriptions include Victory in the Pacific along the top rocker and 1945 along the bottom.

The United States of America was the only nation in World War II to actively fight a two-front war and emerge victorious. The United States was not only heavily engaged in ground and aerial combat in Europe, but also ground, naval, and aerial combat in the Pacific Theater as it engaged in an island-hopping campaign to take back islands from Imperial Japan and push it back towards the home islands. The Commonwealth of Australia was an invaluable partner in this effort and the two nations celebrated the victory with a remembrance day known as Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day) in the United States and Victory in the Pacific Day (VP Day) in Australia.
