Chinese Panda Gold Coins are the most flexible option available to investors from the Chinese Mint. The national gold bullion coin of the Peoples Republic of China, precious metals investors have five weights to choose from each year when buying this gold coin. The largest of those coins is the 1 oz gold coin. Today, you have the opportunity to buy the Chinese Panda 1 oz Gold Coin online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The Chinese Mint introduced the Chinese Panda Gold Coins in 1982 with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz specimens available. One year later, in 1983, the mint expanded the series to feature a 1/20 oz gold coin. In 2016, the mint switched all of the marked weights on the coins from Troy ounces to Grams. This move was said to bring the series in line with the nations use of the Metric system.
Obverse
For the obverse face of the Chinese Panda 1 oz Gold Coin, the mint always uses the exterior image of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This is the largest building in the Temple of Heaven Complex, a Taoist religious site that is one of four such locations in the city of Beijing. The Temple of Heaven was built between 1406 and 1420.
Reverse
In the reverse design element, the Chinese Panda 1 oz Gold Coin comes with images of the Giant Panda. The Chinese Mint is famous for changing the image of the Giant Panda on the reverse every year. This bullion series was the first of its kind to use new designs for each date mark. The only exception to this you will find is the 2002 coin that reused the 2001 design.
History
Chinese Panda 1 oz Gold Coins were issued in this weight from 1982 when the series debuted to 2015, the final release before the switch to Grams. The coins were released from 1982 to 2000 with a face value of 100 Yuan, and from 2001 to 2015 with a value of 500 Yuan.
