While Engelhard Prospector’s have no face value or legal tender, they make a great addition to your silver bullion collection and offer a stable source of value. These half ounce silver rounds are no longer minted and can be difficult to acquire. Each round contains .999 fine silver.
A bearded prospector in a hat kneeling in a stream to pan for gold or silver is displayed on the obverse. The prospector is straddled by the letters U.S.A. and the issuing year and sits above the words “THE AMERICAN PROSPECTOR.”
The reverse features a bald eagle flying with the American flag while clutching an olive branch.
Having gained a high level of recognition among investors, Engelhard silver bullion are extremely desirable in the marketplace.
After being formed in the early 20th Century, the Engelhard Corporation rapidly grew to become the world’s largest refiner of precious metals before being purchased by BASF in 2006. There are no better names in the private precious metals industry, and, since Engelhard ceased production of its silver bullion products in the late 1980’s, the only way to attain these highly sought after items is on the secondary market.
