Celtic Series

Provident released each design separately in the Norse Gods series, but now you have the chance to buy the whole set of 1 oz colorized rounds in one bundle. Designed by Howard David Johnson, this series showcases some of the most well loved gods and goddesses from Norse mythology and legend.

Obverse

Each of the five silver rounds in this series have unique obverse designs with detailed depictions of these mythological characters, based on artwork that was debuted specifically for this series.

Odin, King of Asgard, sits upon his throne holding a spear. He is accompanied by wolves, Geri and Freki, and ravens, Muninn and Huginn. A view of Asgard is seen in the field.

Thor, the mighty god of thunder, wields his hammer, Mjolnir. A lightning storms strikes in the skies above him.

Hel, goddess of death, sits atop a throne of the damned. Ghostly spirits gather around her in the field.

Freya, goddess of love, provides a beacon to lovers throughout the Nine Worlds. She stands upon a golden chariot pulled by two large cats.

Loki, god of mischief, often found himself in disputes with others because of his tricks. He is seen here with a fish, representing his shapeshifting abilities.

Reverse

The shared series reverse features the Valkyrie, also called the Chooser of the Slain. In Norse mythology, the Valkyrie oversaw battles throughout the Nine Worlds and decided where to send the fallen. Those who were killed could be chosen by a Valkyrie to ascend to Valhalla, a hall for warriors to feast and prepare for the ultimate battle of Ragnarok. The Valkyrie is shown here atop a horse, wielding her sword and shield. “VALKYRIE,” along with the weight and purity, are inscribed.
