Introduced in late 1921, the Peace Dollar Silver Coin was the last silver dollar issued by the United States Mint for use in everyday circulation. The coin had a beautiful new design unlike any that had previously appeared on American coinage and was struck in two waves in the 1920s and the 1930s. Provident Metals currently has MS64-graded Peace Dollar Silver Coins available to you for purchase online.

Provident Metals offers these Peace Dollar Silver Coins to you with the possible date marks of 1922 to 1926 and 1934 to 1935. We are not able to guarantee the specific date mark on the coin you receive or the specific grading house label, PCGS or NGC, that appears with the coin. All items are chosen for you after your payment has been processed. Please remember there is the potential to receive coins with dates and labels that all match.

Obverse

The obverse side of Peace Dollar Silver Coins features the left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty. Designed in 1921 by de Francisci, the image reflects the peace of World War I and the prosperity that was rising in the 1920s. Liberty is shown in left-profile relief with a crown of sunrays. The inscriptions on this side include Liberty, In God We Trust, and the date mark.

Reverse

On the reverse field of Peace Dollar Silver Coins is an American bald eagle. This depiction of the bald eagle shows the powerful bird at rest, another reflection of Americas desire for lasting peace after the Great War. The eagle is shown perched on an olive branch and is at rest, its wings resting at its sides. The inscriptions here read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, One Dollar, and Peace.

History

The first Peace Dollar Silver Coin was struck by the United States Mint on December 28, 1921, ending the 11-month production of Morgan Dollars with the 1921 date mark. Just over 1 million 1921-dated coins were issued by the US Mint in those few remaining days of December, making it one of the rarer dates in the Peace Dollar Series. It would go on to run from 1922 to 1928 and again in 1934 and 1935.
