Proof American Platinum Eagle coins feature fresh design images on the reverse side each year. Since its 1997 introduction, Proof Platinum Eagles have debuted a new design of the American bald eagle, Liberty, Justice, and other symbols of American democracy with each passing year. More recently, the 2018 release started a wave of modern Liberty designs for the obverse as well. Right now, you have the chance to purchase Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins in near-perfect condition from Provident Metals.
The Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coin available to you here today comes in near-perfect condition according to the PCGS. Coins with a PR69 grade exhibit full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws must be located outside the primary focal points of the coin and are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines. The included DCAM label indicates the coins have deep-cameo visual features. This means the designs are strong and frosted, while the background field is deeply-mirrored and clear.
On the obverse of Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins, you are most likely to find John Mercantis depiction of the Statue of Liberty. Known as Liberty gazing into the future, this image of the Statues face has featured on the bullion coins every year and on the proof coins until 2017. The 2018-2020 series of Proof American Eagle Platinum Coins introduced modern depictions of Liberty.
The reverse of Proof American Eagle Platinum Coins is where the real diversity is in this series. This side of the coin has a new design every year. Only one image has ever been repeated in this series. The 1997 debut image of the American bald eagle in flight by Thomas D. Rogers was used again in 2017 to mark the 20th anniversary of the program.
To date, five official coin design series have been issued for the Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coin. The first of these was the Vistas of Liberty from 1998 to 2002. The Preamble to the Constitution was the longest series running from 2009 to 2014.
