Reverse

New images are placed on the reverse of the Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Platinum Coin each year. Coins issued between 1997 and 2002 come with images of the American bald eagle in flight over various regions of the continent.

History

The United States Mint canceled the fractional-ounce coins after the 2008 release as demand for platinum coins waned. The bullion series was canceled in total at this point, returning in 2014. The proof coin continued, but only with the 1 oz platinum coin.
