Like many of the Royal Canadian Mint’s bullion products, the Gold Maple Leaf’s obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. There have been two different portraits of Her Majesty used on the 1/20th ounce gold coin, so the particular design you receive may vary based on the year of issue. As these coins are largely sourced from the secondary market, the dates and designs of this product may or may not include a variety.
The reverse features Canada’s iconic national symbol of the maple leaf. You’ll also find inscriptions of the coin’s purity and weight.
The first Gold Maple Leaf was issued in 1979, making it the world’s first pure 24k gold bullion coin. At that time, the only widely available gold coin was the 22k South African Krugerrand. The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf continues to be among the world’s purest gold coins regularly issued by a sovereign mint. Gold Maples issued between 1979 and 1982 had a purity of .999.
Individual coins will ship in a plastic flip. Multiples may come in mint-sealed plastic sheets or tubes, depending on inventory.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
Provident is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.

I have contemplated buying from Provident Metals in the past, but the main reason I never did was because of the state sales tax I would incur since I am a fellow Texan. Well, our legislatures were kind enough to lift this tax as of October 1, 2013. For my first purchase, I went with two 1/20 ounce Gold Maple Leaves. I am very happy with them. They came in mint plastic, and weighed and measured out correctly. I do put these little guys in air-tite capsules with the black gaskets. They can be very easy to misplace and I like them in the capsules. I suggest if you ever get any and have a cold, don?t sneeze around them. The whole transaction went as described and I will be doing more business with provident in the future.
