Like many of the Royal Canadian Mint’s bullion products, the Gold Maple Leaf’s obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. There have been five different portraits of Her Majesty throughout her long reign, so the particular design you receive may vary based on the date. As these coins are sourced from the secondary market, the dates of this product will be grab bag style and will likely show signs of wear including contact marks, reed marks, copper spots, and/or abrasions, etc.
The reverse features Canada’s iconic national symbol of the maple leaf. You’ll also find inscriptions of the coin’s purity and weight.
About the Gold Maple
The first Gold Maple Leaf was issued in 1979, making it the world’s first pure 24k gold bullion coin. At that time, the only widely available gold coin was the 22k South African Krugerrand. The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf continues to be among the world’s purest gold coins regularly issued by a sovereign mint. Gold Maples issued between 1979 and 1982 have a purity of .999, while Gold Maples issued from 1983 to present have a purity of .9999.
Individual coins will ship in a plastic flip. Multiples may or may not come in mint-sealed plastic sheets or tubes, depending on inventory.
