Obverse

The obverse of the $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is one of America’s most iconic coinage designs. Many consider it to be one of the most beautiful too. An image of Lady Liberty is shown striding forward with the rising sun in the background. She holds a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The U.S. Capitol is shown towards the lower left, while the inscription “LIBERTY” appears at the top of the coin.

Reverse

The coin’s reverse depicts a flying eagle above a rising sun. The words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TWENTY DOLLARS” appear towards the top of the reverse. On some coins dated 1908 and all coins dated 1909-1933, the legend “IN GOD WE TRUST” is engraved around the sun. These earlier coins are known as “No Mottos,” while the later dates with the religious inscription are referred to as “With Motto” coins.

About the $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin

The name Augustus Saint-Gaudens has legendary status among both art historians and numismatics. He is best known in the coin and bullion world for designing the $20 “Saint” Double Eagle. These two pieces are widely regarded as some of the most attractive and iconic coins ever released by the United States Mint. While Saint-Gaudens is more commonly associated with the Double Eagle–hence the “Saint” nickname–he was also the creative genius behind the $10 Indian too.

These Brilliant Uncirculated pieces show full original mint luster and no signs of wear. As Mint State coins, they boast exceptional eye appeal.

Not only are these Double Eagles highly collectible, but they are also a savvy way of owning gold. They have the appeal and historic significance of a numismatic coin combined with the low premium of a bullion item. These $20 Saints have traded for 30 to 60% over spot in past years, but now your cost is just a tiny margin over melt.

The coins being offered today have random years of issue (ranging between 1907 and 1933) depending on our current inventory.
