Series Background

As the series name suggests, the Myths and Legends Series features popular figures from timeless myths and legends. Coins are issued in several sizes in both silver and gold, with BU and proof strikes being made available.

What makes the series unique is that coins are released in 3-coin sets with each mini-series focusing on a different story. Each coin displays the reigning British monarch on the obverse with each unique legend on the reverse.

The first 3 designs in the series showcase the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, while designs after the initial 3 display King Charles III.

Designs

The first mini-series focuses on the tale of Robin Hood. The story of Robin Hood is well-known as it’s been portrayed countless times in literature and cinema. Dating back to the 13^th century AD, Robin Hood (a skilled archer and swordsman) is known to steal from the wealthy and redistribute the wealth to the poor. For the next mini-series, the Royal Mint focused on the story of King Arthur. The story goes that Arthur would grow up to become one of the most famous and dominant rulers of Britain.
